{"id":4810,"date":"2023-05-17T21:05:37","date_gmt":"2023-05-18T01:05:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leadingcryptonews.com\/bitcoin-is-the-only-alternative-to-a-cbdc\/"},"modified":"2023-05-17T21:05:37","modified_gmt":"2023-05-18T01:05:37","slug":"bitcoin-is-the-only-alternative-to-a-cbdc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadingcryptonews.com\/bitcoin-is-the-only-alternative-to-a-cbdc\/","title":{"rendered":"Bitcoin is the Only Alternative to a CBDC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Jordan_Peterson.jpg\" \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Famous Canadian psychologist and political commentator Jordan Peterson believes Bitcoin is the only \u201cviable\u201d monetary alternative in a future world dominated by central bank digital currency (CBDC).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The intellectual recently spoke with tech expert and entrepreneur Brian Roemmele about artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, highlighting how Bitcoin can serve to shield the world from its tyrannical excesses.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Using Bitcoin for Communication<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In an <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">interview<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> published on Monday, Roemmele said that he sees blockchain \u2013 specifically Bitcoin \u2013 being wrapped up into a popular payment system, due to the \u201cway it was made.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Peterson followed up by saying that Bitcoin is the \u201conly alternative I can see to a centralized bank digital currency,\u201d which he predicted will be \u201cfoisted upon us at any point.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cBitcoin actually is decentralized,\u201d said Peterson. \u201cIt isn\u2019t amenable to control by a bureaucracy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As the psychologist noted how Bitcoin could, in principle, be used for \u201cwealth storage\u201d and as a \u201ccurrency,\u201d Roemmele added that it could also be used for \u201ccommunication.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cEncrypted within a blockchain is almost an unlimited amount of data,\u201d he said. \u201cYou can actually memorialize information that you want decentralized and never to go away.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Unlike traditional bank transfers, Bitcoin transactions that have been registered on the public blockchain for more than one hour are virtually irreversible and logged across tens of thousands of Bitcoin nodes across the world. This feature of Bitcoin has recently become popular for memorializing NFTs through the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ordinals protocol<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which bakes image data directly into the public blockchain.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Peterson\u2019s Blockchain Idea<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Peterson noted that he\u2019d be interested in using Bitcoin as a form of \u201cpermanent, incorruptible information storage\u201d to develop a \u201cblockchain corpus of general knowledge questions\u201d for running IQ tests, and prevent people from \u201cgerrymandering the measurement of general cognitive ability.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cYou could derive random samples of general ability tests that would be 100% robust reliable and valid, and nobody could gerrymander them,\u201d he said. \u201cJust the way Bitcoins stops fiat currency producers from inflating the currency.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Peterson has previously <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">praised<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Bitcoin as a way of combatting tyrannical control imposed by CBDCs in the past.
